Beauty Tips When You Travel

To take care of your beauty when you travel, first think about your travel essentials. The means to make yourself attractive are not readily available when you are away from home. So, here are some tips for you to limit your grooming needs when you travel and still look attractive. Traveling light is an advantage, so you need items that are compact and portable. Get yourself a giant shoulder bag and two small, plastic lined cases for your toiletries and makeup. Your beauty tools should be within easy reach, so you can freshen up your makeup and look well-groomed from your trip.

Don’t forget to take your sunscreen lotion. An anti-tan sunscreen would be good. Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before going outside. If you are in the sun for more than an hour, reapply sunscreen. You may also need a moisturizer, hand cream, and lip balm. Carry an eye-pencil, mascara and lipstick for your makeup that is suitable for both day and night. Include compact powder and powder blush-on. Remember the tissues. If you have oily skin, or the weather is hot and humid, pre-moistened tissue is best. What about your deodorant and talcum powder?

A “pick-me-up” face mask can make your skin clear and glowing. It removes fatigue and refreshes the skin. Ready-to-use peel-off masks are easily available. For hair care, carry hair cream with sunscreen, herbal shampoo, hair serum, small hair dryer and styling tongs.

When you travel by air or land, you may have to sit for long hours. Avoid tight clothes. Keep feet raised with some support, to help circulation and prevent fatigue. While sitting, intertwine your toes and make circular motions with your feet. Take an occasional walk down the aisle to stretch yourself. We hear a lot about the phenomenon “jet lag”. Traveling across time zones at high speed can mess with the body’s normal cycles and schedules. Eat a light meal during the flight. Lettuce and fruits help relieve the symptoms of jet-lag. Drink plenty of fluids, but don’t drink alcohol. Water and fruit juice will help prevent the loss of body fluids…

Even when you are away from home, staying at a hotel or resort, you can easily use natural ingredients for beauty care. Here are a few beauty tips:

  • An emergency treatment when you don’t have time to shampoo. Put a little eau de cologne on your brush and brush your hair. It absorbs oil and leaves your hair clean and fragrant.
  • If you suddenly find that your hair is too static—or has a “fly away” hair problem, dampen your hands with water and smooth your palms over the hair. And, avoid brushing too much.
  • To brighten tired eyes, take two used tea bags, soak them in some warm water, squeeze the water and apply it as a pad on the eyes. You can also make a cotton swab soaked in rose water.
  • You can use natural ingredients for your hair to enhance the look of your hair. Ingredients like tea and beer can be readily available during the holidays and can be used to wash and add shine to the hair.
  • Beer works well for dry hair. Mix the juice of one lemon in beer and wash your hair with it. Leave on for a few minutes and wash off with plain water. It makes hair soft and smooth and also adds shine.
  • Or, mix a tea bag in 4 to 5 cups of warm water. Take out the tea bag and cool the water. Then add the juice of one lemon to it and use it as a final rinse. It helps to make hair silky and shiny.
  • Mix a little cold milk in sugar and use it as a scrub.
